Artist Bio
Nikka Wolfenbarger (they/them) is a genderqueer fiber artist, graphic designer, and arts educator based in Ypsilanti, MI, and a graduate from the University of Toledo in 2016 with their BFA in New Media Design Practices.
Self taught in fiber techniques, they began working with hand embroidery in 2017 to celebrate their lifelong adoration of fiber, and an appreciation for craft mediums.
Their work has been featured in galleries and institutions across the country, including Peters Valley School of Craft, Kent State University Museum, the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and the Ann Arbor Art Center.
In their home studio in Detroit, they create work exploring themes of queerness, community, dreams, nightmares, and intimate emotional landscapes.
They create art and graphic design projects on commission or contract.
